AI story generator for kids: how personalization works
Generic bedtime stories are forgotten by morning. A story where the hero has your child's name, lives in a place you both know and wants something specific is remembered for months.
What you set before generation
- Hero — a name, an age, a trait. "Tim, 5, afraid of thunder".
- Place — a forest, a space station, grandma's village.
- Goal — what the hero wants: to find a friend, to be brave, to fall asleep.
- Theme — the idea behind the plot, up to 100 characters.
- Genre and age — the tone and the vocabulary level.
The wizard asks these questions one at a time, so the adult does not have to write a long prompt or know how to talk to a language model.
Six genres, one flow
Fairy tale, detective story, adventure, calming bedtime story, educational tale and edifying story. The genre changes structure, pacing and vocabulary — a detective story gets a mystery and clues, a bedtime story gets a slow rhythm and a soft ending.
Illustration
Every story gets one landscape image in a sketchbook watercolour style, 3:2 format. The style is deliberately consistent: no photorealism, no scary lighting — the same visual language across all stories.
Narration
The text can be voiced with ElevenLabs narration and played back at a comfortable speed, including with the screen off. See read-aloud stories for details.
Twelve languages
Stories can be created in English, Danish, German, Spanish, Finnish, French, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese, Swedish and Turkish. The interface language and the story language are chosen separately, so a bilingual family can read in one language and keep the app in another.
What happens to the story afterwards
It stays on your own shelf, where it is always available. Stories are also published to the Community Library under the author name you chose when creating the profile — that is how the shared collection is built. The name stays with the story even if the account is later deleted, while the data itself is unlinked from the account.

What makes a story personalized?
The hero, place, goal and theme come from the parent, and the age of the listener sets the vocabulary. The plot, illustration and narration are built around those answers.
